Women miss urine more often than men
In Turkey urinary incontinence Significant research has been signed in recent years. In this sense, the age and demographic information of men and women began to appear. As the years passed, the problem of urinary incontinence increased in society, President of Continence Association Professor of Urology. Dr. Oktay Demirkesen gave important statistical information about the disease:
"Urinary incontinence is a common condition in our society. It should be noted at the outset, women urinary incontinence affects more. In the literature, at least 2-fold compared to male incontinence indicated that more interest, in western Turkey on a study, about 4 times more women than men For this reason, when talking about urinary incontinence, women come to mind first.
The urinary incontinence rate of women in Turkey, according to research conducted in 2017, 42.7%
and it made in different regions of Turkey urinary incontinence in women urinary incontinence rates range from 23% to 46%. As a matter of fact, in a study presented at the 5th Congress of Functional Urology and Women's Urology held in the beginning of October, 2017, incontinence rates were investigated in 16 provinces in 12 different regions and among 25-65 year old women.
According to this study, which was questioned by 1179 patients, urinary incontinence rate was found to be 42.7%. 40% of this group stated that they had stress urinary incontinence and 25,6% stated that they miss urine without reaching the toilet. Again, according to this study, the ratio of those who stated that the daily life had a moderate degree and a lot of urinary excretion that would affect the significant level was 8.5%. Although patient selection and different geographical regions lead to some differences, urinary incontinence rates are approximately at these levels in different countries of the world.
In terms of age and sex in both men and women, urinary incontinence rates in both cinste are increasing with age. There is a slight jump in the frequency due to the increase in incidence of stress urinary incontinence in women aged 40-60 years, followed by a gradual course.
In men, urinary incontinence is not as detailed as in women. Urinary incontinence, which is very rare in men during adulthood, shows a steady increase in older ages. If they are over 75 years old, the proportions of both cinste are approximately equal.
Treatment wish education varies by level
One of the issues investigated about the problem of urinary incontinence is the socio-economic level relation of urinary incontinence.
Socio-economic level pregnancy number, body mass index, diabetes mellitus, depression, smoking and menopause time.
The higher the socio-economic level, the greater the rate of urge to express and seek treatment. However, it is not possible to make clear comments about the frequency of incidence between urinary incontinence and socio-economic level and the feeling of discomfort caused by patients. However, in a study we conducted, it was determined that urinary incontinence rate decreased significantly as the level of education increased in patients admitted to urology and gynecology outpatient clinics with complaints other than urinary incontinence, but the desire for treatment did not change with the level of education.
