With advancing technology and new techniques, there are now new ways of showing the openness of the tubes or opening up small adhesions. The first of these is a selective salpingography other than a painless uterine film technique.
If the tube in the uterus film is off, the following may be the case:
one- The tube is irreversibly closed.
2nd- However, there is a kind of congestion that can be caused by surgery or medical treatment.
3- The tube is closed due to small adhesions.
4- The slimy plug or clot was clogged due to the clogged tube.
5- The tube was closed because of contracting of the uterine muscles (Spasm).
An experienced radiologist can identify the obstacles in the first two by the uterus film.
Tubes closed in the uterus film due to small adhesions, plugs or spasms can be opened with a radiological technique called "selective salpingography" or it can be shown that it is actually open.
In a selective salpingography technique, a special soft cannula similar to the catheters used in angiography is passed through the cervical canal, resting against the mouth of the tube and delivering the drug directly into the tube. This process is painless and usually takes only 1-2 minutes. Selective salpingography has no side effects or complications other than the standard uterine film.
It should be pointed out that either HSG or selective salpingography can not be used to open a basically occluded, surgically ligated or hydrosalpinx tubing and can not replace surgical operations for this purpose.
